Book review on Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella

As the holidays are drawing nearer, I recently wanted to read a more festive/holiday type of book. The books that I normally read are devotionals and Christian books which are nice but I wanted to read a funny novel and laugh a bit. I went to the public library and came across my favorite author, Sophie Kinsella. I have read every single one of her books in the Shopaholic series. Honestly, Sophie is one of my favorite authors. Imagine my surprise when I saw she’s actually had a new Shopaholic book out for a while now.

Christmas Shopaholic is one of the books in the series, Shopaholic. This is the most recent book in the collection. Becky has already married Luke and this book shows us life after baby Minnie was born. This book is so funny! It made me laugh a lot because Sophie really captures Becky’s personality so well. Becky to me, has a very short attention span. Not only does she Google everything (like most moms do), but she’s always trying to people please everyone which lands her into heaps of trouble!

Becky constantly worries about what others think about her and spends her spare time shopping online and attempting to save money. From what I am seeing, no money is being saved and it’s just her spending a lot at a “discount.” It’s funny to get to see how her mind works and how quickly she gets distracted. Also, Becky tries hard to impress Minnie’s teacher and everyone else around her which seems very exhausting.

I don’t usually laugh when it comes to reading books. Sophie Kinsella has always made me laugh when it comes to the Shopaholic series, however I still haven’t been able to read her other books. That’s always been a goal of mine though, to read other books she’s published besides the Shopaholic series. I have been meaning to for years but I love Becky’s character so much that I am tend to wait for a new one to come out.

And beware, spoiler alert! Becky and Luke get pregnant at the end of the book and they have another baby on the way. To me, that was the sweetest way to end the book. If you’re looking for a festive, funny, and romantic book this holiday season, I’d read that. And I must say, I would rate this book 10/10. Sophie Kinsella never disappoints me with her novels! She’s a fantastic author.

Until next time,
